I, Alireza Safdarzadeh Haghighi, was born on 1982/08/30, into an artistic family passionate about carpet weaving. My mentor, my father, was one of the most prominent carpet artists in Iran. He designed and supervised the weaving of portraits of world kings during the 2500-year celebrations of the Persian Empire, commissioned by the Iranian court. From the very beginning of my journey, I learned patience, precision, and a deep love for art from him, and at the age of sixteen, I professionally entered the fascinating world of carpet weaving.
For me, art is not only a means of creating beauty but also a way to convey Iranian culture and values to the world. Each knot, each color, and each design in our carpets tells a story of history, emotion, and harmony. With over 200 dedicated and talented colleagues in the workshop, our continuous effort has been to elevate handmade carpets from being just luxury goods to symbols of love, creativity, and deep human connection.
Our weavers are members of our family, sharing their heart and soul in this art. Their material and spiritual rights are of great importance to me because I believe that every positive emotion in the weaving process is directly transferred to the homes of individuals.
Over the years, in addition to producing carpets, I have also looked to the world of painting and visual arts to express my emotions, thoughts, and spirituality through colors and forms. My dream is to build a bridge between Iranian culture and the world, a bridge where art is the common language of hearts. This vision has been reflected in many of my works. Some of the projects created with this approach include the following:
1.Golestan-e-Eshq (The Garden of Love) – This carpet, with more than 500 colors, is a masterpiece that depicts the vastness and depth of colors without the need for intricate designs. Its design shows that colors alone can create form and movement, transmitting a profound sense of emotion. This piece showcases the miraculous power of color and has elevated carpet weaving to an innovative level. It is now preserved as a symbol of creativity and authenticity in a museum.
2.Gol-e-Asmani (Heavenly Flower) – The color harmony and design of this piece, inspired by the work of Master Rostam Shirazi, can inspire the lives of others. It represents the depth of philosophy, art, and the use of natural colors. Reviving the designs is not just a technical act but an artistic and even spiritual one, demonstrating a deep respect for traditions and nature
Statement for the Carpet “Zomorrodestan” (Emerald Land)
Zomorrodestan is a reflection of serenity and splendor woven into the life-giving colour of green. An imaginary garden, cloaked in leaves and blossoms, resting in mystical silence.
Dancing floral motifs breathe vitality into the space, while the central design—with its harmonious, symmetrical blossoms—emerges like a beating heart within a tranquil forest, as if existence itself radiates from this point and gently expands outward.
Layered borders filled with arabesques and colourful flora trace the boundary between reality and imagination.
This artwork, titled Eye of the Sky, presents a contemporary interpretation of the fusion of authentic Iranian motifs, tradition, and creativity.
The design is primarily inspired by the Shikargah (hunting scene) motif, reimagined in a symbolic and geometric form by Master Rostam Shirazi, with an innovative composition by Alireza Haghighi.
At the center, within the toranj (central medallion), predatory and prey animals—including the wolf and the deer—are intertwined, evoking the cycle of life and the balance of nature.
In the lachaks (corner pieces), birds of prey, while retaining the traditional structure and character of the lachak, form an abstract shape reminiscent of an eye. The lachaks appear as the eyelids, while the toranj becomes the pupil of this eye, embodying the concepts of vision, protection, awareness, and perception.
The combination of blue with warm tones evokes the interplay of movement and stillness in the sky, creating a visual balance between dynamism and tranquility.
